The onesie dilemma

Please tell me, without sparing my feelings, whether my son will have years of therapy in his future if I pick this as his "going home" outfit:

[Like? In my defense the ad says its for girls or boys]

  1. No way! I think it is ADORABLE :)
And I have put my boys in way girlier outfits than that anyway ;)
    LOVE IT xxx

  2. Do they have it in newborn or are you planning on having a baby that will fit in 3-6 months? LOL.

    It's cute K and I get the symbolism ;).

Don't worry, he won't remember ever wearing it.

  4. Go for it. It's adorable, it has some SERIOUS meaning for you, and it's not frilly or girly. Boys can like flowers (especially big manly sunflowers!) too.

  6. Love it!

But then again, I used to dress my boy baby in pink outfits all the time. Because I just liked pink.

He's 18 now, heading off to college in the fall and *seems* well-adjusted.

  7. I agree... he'll get over it, and if he ever reads this blog, he will understand that he was simply sunflower WAY before he became Mr. Sunflower... :)

  8. it's an interesting question which prompted me to wonder why i'd be okay putting my girl-baby in a "boyish" outfit, but might feel differently putting a boy-baby in a "girl-ish" outfit?? an interesting question, esp since we are the ones who place meaning or value on whether a design is "male" or "female"....

anyway, i say put him in whatever you and j desire......and we all know how meaningful sunflowers are to you in this pregnancy, so what could be more appropriate?! :)

  9. That brown is TOTALLY manly! =) Go for it! And, to me, Sunflowers are quite masculine, compared to other flora.

  10. It's brown and why shouldn't boys learn to love flowers as well? For that matter, girls should have tonka trucks and boys should have barbies or babies...it's adorable. Why the heck not? :)

  11. I did notice the same thing as E... I bet you'll find that a 3-6 month size will be way too big for your newborn little guy. A 0-3 months might fit, but even our almost-10-pound chunker was in a tiny sleeper when we left the hospital.

But I say go for it otherwise! It's cute and neutral-colored.

  12. Thanks all! :) I noticed that they don't have newborn or 0-3 so I have an e-mail out to the maker to see if she can get me a smaller size. i'm hoping hoping hoping they do. I've decided I'll "boy" it up somehow if she can get it for me. There are a ton of sunlower onesies I found but this was tthe most gender neutral so I'm REALLY hoping they have it.

  14. It's very cute, and it's brown so I don't think there is any problem taking your little one home in it! If you want to "boy it up" a bit, you can always put some cute little blue jeans on him, or a little baseball cap :)
