MFM Update

My MFM visit went well but we got no good pics because he was super active! Kicking, squirming, punching. Adorable. He weighs 4lb6oz (43rd percentile) so as of now he's not giganto GD baby. Phew. Dr. MFM said tentatively, now we'll need you to start coming in for weekly ultrasounds to check growth and ensure proper blood flow. Hope that's okay? That's like telling a pothead their company is relocating to Amsterdam. Of course its fine!

I had a good chuckle later at Target when I saw a "Baby Book" to record mementos including a page with one square for my ultrasound picture. A dear friend just had her 20 week u/s and her OB told her enjoy it, it's the last you'll see your baby until he arrives! She's a fertile myrtle and though I admit I sometimes feel envy towards her ease at procreation- I do feel rather smug at how often I get to visit my little one. Hey- its the one perk I get to being a high-risk preggo so I may as well savor it to the last drop.

  1. Hooray for an awesome appointment! Glad sunflower is measuring spot-on.

Yeah, I have enough ultrasound pictures of the twins to wallpaper their entire nursery. Seriously, I think I might! That's great that you'll be getting your fill of seeing sunflower while he's still baking... at least IF is good for SOMETHING.

  3. Great news about his size!

As for the pics, I'm hoping that's the upside to the loss...that I'll get even more of them, or at least I can push for more and maybe get some sympathy shots. Just so comforting to be able to see them.

  5. "a pothead relocating to Amsterdam", eh? I totally get it. Wonderful news that he's doing so well, and I agree on the baby books. I laugh. Which one to use, and we're only at 14 weeks! I need a whole Ultrasound-Memory-Book to hold them all.

  6. I am going to MFM today too for an ultrasound. I am nervous as to how big he is. Since I haven't been gaining weight I am nervous he isn't growing much. My MFM doc is 3 hours away. I wonder if they are going to want me to come in once a week too? Did they say why they want you to go in weekly? God between that and the twice weekly stress tests coming up I am going to be living at the doctor's office.

Glad to hear Sunflower is doing well and is a nice size, spot on. ;)

  7. Oh I forgot to tell you, some of those sites do calculate me on Friday but my doctor, for some reason, counts my weeks on Thursday. I don't think it has anything to do with measurement as V measured 4 days behind in the beginning and then started measuring spot on and then started measuring ahead by 2 weeks by the time I was 26 weeks.

    So, who knows. ;).

  8. That was the one thing we always were excited about, so many extra looks at the babies. It helps keep all of the over-anxious (for good reason) moms a bit more calm!

WHOOHOO for more little looks at Mr. Sunflower!

Did you ever get TriCare figured out, I remember when I needed to go back 3 years after my knee surgery because the screws were backing out, my PCM said they didn't have any record of the surgery, so they weren't going to give me the referral. I had to go in and show them the NINE INCH SCAR on my leg.... and then they also saw the three screws starting to stick out... Its frustrating at times!

  9. That is fabulous that you get to see your little one more often than most. I can't imagine my anatomy scan being the last time I get to see the bubs. Although it is comforting to know that that's how close we are!! even if it's not even quite halfway for me (i get it next week at 19wks even). And I'm so glad he's at a good weight though I'm not surprised given how diligently you are managing GD.

  10. I agree. Being High Risk is hard, but the (only) perk is how often we got to see and hear our little ones.
