So much for motherly instincts

We had the appointment and thank God, all looks well, then they checked the gender and there clear as day . . . our son. I could not stop laughing and crying. I told the tech are you sure, because her name is sara. The tech laughed and said um, nope its 99% certainly a boy. I apologized to him for calling him a girl all this time. I'm the mother, what do I know? He's still my little sunflower and yeah, come Halloween 2010 he will be wearing a sunflower costume. Too bad kiddo!

I oscillate between smiling and crying. I can't believe I've made it this far into the pregnancy. I knew it would be a girl or a boy, but just knowing, truly knowing, makes it so much more real.

I'm leaving today to go to the in-laws until Sunday. We plan to tell them this weekend about my pregnancy. I haven't yet decided if we'll tell them the gender. I know they will look at us blankly and say that's nice, moving on to another topic but I don't think their attitude can erase this goofy grin off this face of mine.

  3. YAY congratulations - on both knowing and the newfound joy. Also on a great appointment. I'm so happy for you. Definitely don't worry about the in laws. They cannot get you down unless you let them. This is your (and your son's!) moment.

  4. Congrats on your boy! How exciting. At least now you've got lots of time to think up a boy's name as great as Sara (and just save that one for your next child).

Hope the inlaws are more enthusiastic than you think they'll be, but even if not, you and your DH will more than make up for it with your own excitement.

    Where are the photos???

  5. You have a SON! =D

I know this gender swap came as a surprise to you, but I've always thought that sunflowers can pass for girls OR boys. ;-)

So glad that everything is going well for you and sonflower (did you see what I did there?).

Try to have as good of a time as possible with the inlaws. I know they're not your cup of tea, but at least you can celebrate the fact that you and Jack are well on your way towards parenthood!

  6. Meg, I love it - Kate's lil sonflower!

What a lucky little boy to be comign to a home where he is so desired and beloved already. May he be happy, healthy and joyous! May he be the light of your eyes and delight of your heart and may he bring you great contentment, just as you will surely bring all of that to him. Amen!

    Much love & congratulations!

    Love,
    Baraka

  9. Luckely he will be small, so he can't argue back when you try to put the sunflower on him! :) Congrats on your son! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Be safe.

  11. Hooray for a SON!!! Congratulations K!!! I think you know that I absolutely *love* having a boy, and couldn't be happier that I have two more on the way. Girl stuff is cuter, but boys adore their mamas. :)

Happy Thanksgiving, and good luck with the in-laws!

  12. congratulations!! i'm so happy for you! i'm only bummed i didn't read your previous post in time to vote.
kind of funny that we each thought we were having the opposite gender. i remember when i asked the tech if she was sure i was having a girl and she said, "well, i've never seen a boy with a vagina!" i guess that's her way of saying it's 99% sure. :)
best of luck with the inlaws ths weekend.
